Jerry was born in December 1952 to Carl and Elizabeth Keesling of Stafford, Kan., and passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2009.
Jerry grew up in El Monte, Calif., and graduated from Arroyo High School. Following his graduation, he joined the U.S. Marines where he completed his tour of Duty during the Vietnam War. Later he worked for Pinkerton Security at Diablo Canyon, where he soon fulfilled his dream to become a police officer.
Jerry started his police career as a reserve officer for the Pismo Beach Police Dept., and rose to the rank of sergeant. He retired after 32 years of service to the community in 2005.
During retirement he worked as a reserve deputy for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Dept. As both a Marine and police officer, he loved his country and will be remembered for his patriotism.
Jerry married the love of his life, Linda Tooley in 1978. He loved his family and was very proud of his two sons. Jerry was also an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider and was a lifetime member of various sportsmen's organizations, including the NRA. He and his family attended New Life Community Church.
He was a loving husband, best friend, and a wonderful father. He will be missed by his family and the community.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Keesling; sons Jerad and Josh; parents, Carl and Elizabeth Keesling of Lake Isabella, Calif.; brother, Richard; sister, Karla; and numerous relatives.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2009, at Marshall-Spoo Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1239 Longbranch in Grover Beach.
A funeral service will begin at noon Monday, March 2, 2009, at New Life Community Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach, with burial at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park. A reception will follow back at the church.
