We love you more than life itself. For you we’d walk through fire.
Believe me when I tell you now, you are our heart’s desire
You make us feel as if the world is just a grain of sand,
compared to how our hearts grew so when we first took your hand.
We put you on a pedestal, sing praises to your name.
And then when things come crashing down,we’re here to take the blame.
Now having said that one more time, allow me to explain
that even though we love you so we can’t control our brain.
We don’t know why we do the things that make you pull your hair.
Sometimes a guy’s intelligence just seems to turn to air.
We don’t know why we bought that truck that’s rusty and won’t start.
We thought we’d fix it up someday if we could find the parts.
And at that party we went to, to ring in the New Year,
we thought it was a good idea to mix that Scotch and beer!
We just don’t like to mow the lawn although we can’t say why.
And washing dishes, clothes and such can really make us cry.
Shopping for your underwear at Christmas makes us nervous.
And holding hands down at the mall...well, we’ve just scratched the surface.
You ask us what we’re thinking. You really want to know.
But most the times our minds are blank, in neutral, idling slow.
We’re creatures both of habit and goofy impulse too.
Like walking strange like old John Wayne. Sometimes we just want to.
Asking “why?” we did some thing that really blew your mind
will usually be answered that “It made sense at the time”.
So Ladies, don’t put too much stock in what’s underneath our hat.
But know deep down we love you and just let it go at that.
