Homecoming
For centuries they’ve heard the call
And left sweet hearth and home
To travel far to foreign lands
And on the sea to roam
To stand against a foe they’ll march
Sometime a few miles hence
They fight to save their families
Stand stalwart in defense
But not all can return to hearth
And loved ones once again
So tears are shed and banners cased
Till bugles call again
And few can know a soldier’s joy
At coming home at last
To see the smiles and calm the fears
And put away the past
So raise your glass to those brave few
As they come down from the hill
They’ve shed their blood to keep us free
We know they always will
To risk the very life you love
So others may stand free
Should make us proud of those good lads
Those sons of liberty
