Now, that General McChrystal, he’s quite a pistol
Seems to have his ducks in a row
I think it’s a tragedy that we have no strategy
At least that’s what we hear from Big O
It appears all they’ve bought, after 9 months of thought
Is some tickets to Denmark and back
I had hoped that by now, someway or somehow
We’d be cutting Jihadists no slack
Or we’d pack up our stuff and leave in a huff
And show diplomatic precision
It gives me a fit when they’ll “look into it”
No, they won’t be, “rushed to a decision”
Now some time ago I’ll have you know
I was in a big fracas myself
What we did in the end was abandon our friends
Did they take that old plan off the shelf?
35 years ago at the end of the show
After having no plan I could see
We folded the tents and said “Adios Gents”
And came back from across the wide sea
It took ten years or more to wind down that war
Cause we jumped from one plan to another
In the end we had none so we just said “We’ve won”
And things went downhill then my brother
So pardon my attitude I’m all out of gratitude
For bailouts and rainbows and change
Things ain’t going the way that I’d hoped for today
That’s my view from my home on the range
