Milton D. Behrens, 83, of Austin, TX formally of Fishkill, NY passed away of natural causes Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Born June 19, 1927 in Baltimore, MD, he was the adored husband to Britt Behrens and proud father and step-father of five children, grandfather of three, and esteemed role model for many others.
Milt was born to German immigrants in the family home. He joined the Army on his 18th birthday and served overseas in post-war security forces. After active duty, he attended the University of Maryland, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later obtained his Masters Degree from Wayne State University.
Milt spent the majority of his career as a research engineer for Texaco in Beacon, NY. In 1986, at the age of 59, he attended the New York State Police Academy ultimately becoming a Homicide and Major Crimes Detective for the Town of Fishkill.
Milt and Britt moved to Austin in 1997. Throughout his life, Milt was an avid shooter and marksman, participating in IPSC and SASS tournaments, better known there as "The Fishkill Kid". Milt was a Stephen Minister at St. Michael's Episcopal Church and active member of the church community.
He is survived by his beloved wife Britt, five children, and faithful dogs. Services will be Monday, March 21 at 6:30pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
