William A. Fillman, 75, of Avon, IL passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019. He was born Saturday, September 25, 1943 in Kewanee, IL the son of Harry A. and Alberta F. (Mooday) Fillman. He married Ruth Chase on October 14, 1977 in Rock Island, IL. Bill is survived by his wife Ruth Fillman of Avon, IL; daughters Cindy Hallam of Longmont, CO, Lisa Spilsbury of Norwalk, CA, and Michele Fillman of Las Vegas, NV; sons Adam and Ivan Folger, both of Avon, IL; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Bill graduated from Yorkwood High School. He worked at Winkler Feed and Monmouth Stockyards. He was a welder at Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, IL and an over the road truck driver. He was also a farmer, sheep herder and "chicken whisperer". Bill was a lover of both guns and people. His passion was shooting with his friends and fellow SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) cowboys. of which he was a devoted member. He built and enjoyed shooting black powder guns.
A true lover of nature, Bill enjoyed camping and gardening, and watched over many flocks of sheep and chickens. He loved family adventures, including the "gathering of the nuts" and the crazy Fillman Family Camping trips. Above all, Bill loved his family and always put them first.
His grandchildren were the light of his life. Funeral service was Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Wise Family Funeral Home Avon, IL. Burial was in the Bushnell Cemetery, Bushnell, IL. Memorials may be made to the ILLOWA Irregulars of the Milan Rifle Club
