Iris Howe, 58, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.

Iris was born March 31, 1951 as the daughter of William Bonifas and Patricia (Guertin) Bonifas in Escanaba, Mich. She married Aaron L. Howe on Oct. 21, 1972 in Escanaba, Mich.

Iris loved her family, the arts, and the great out-of-doors. She was an accomplished potter, an avid hiker, and a hunting/shooting sport enthusiast. She was a founding member of The Castle Gate Posse shooting club where she was know by her alias 'Cowboy Murder'n Maude.'

Iris received her Regulator badge from the Single Action Shooting Society in 2005, recognizing her efforts in organizing The Castle Gate Posse and promoting Cowboy Action Shooting in Utah. She was serving as the Posse's President at the time of her death.

Iris is survived by her husband Aaron, children, Gary (Danielle) and Andrea; grandchildren, Mikayla and Autumn; parents, William (Bill) and Patricia Bonifas; sisters, Amy (Mike) Lappas, Geri (Jerry) Fitzpatrick, Jane (Mark) Gdovin, and Mary Bonifas; and brothers, Dan (Cindy) Bonifas, Steve (Cindy) Bonifas, and Bill Bonifas.

Funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell's Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
