Mr. Mikeal "Ripshin" Franklin Woods, 62, of Lenoir, died Sunday, June 7, 2009.

Born April 25, 1947, in Caldwell County, Mr. Woods was a son of the late Wayne Robert and Mallie Ruth Putman Woods, and the husband of Kathy Triplett Woods.

Mikeal was a member of Blue Creek Baptist Church and employed with Neptco for more than 18 years. He also had served on the Lenoir and Granite Falls Police forces. He was active in the Cowboy Action Shooting family and was founder and territorial governor for the Gunpowder Creek Regulators.

Other than his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn Woods Brown and husband Scott of Lenoir; two step-children, Callie Trivette and husband Andy of Lenoir, John Earp and wife Stephanie of Morganton; one sister, Bonnie Burgess and husband Bill of Huntersville; three brothers, Robert Sanford Woods and wife Carol of Lenoir, John Wayne Woods and wife Ann of Lenoir, Wesley Thomas Woods and wife Ginny of Hudson, and four grandchildren, Grayson, Molly, Ella Grace and Megan.

A celebration of Mr. Woods' life will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Lenoir Community Church with the Rev. Jack Lewis and the Rev. Gurney Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Woods Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, from 2 until 4 p.m., two hours prior to the service at Lenoir Community Church. The family will be gathering at the home of Andy and Callie Trivette in Lenoir.

Pallbearers will be Mikeal's Cowboy Family.
