Working all day with the sun beating down
Except when it’s rain instead
Breaking green horses with bad attitudes
Who love to toss you on your head

Castrating calves during that time of year
Ropin and brandin the stock
Trail food with dust and a few bugs thrown in
Payin no mind to the clock

Long days in the saddle, ridin the fence
Torn gloves and torn up hands too
Choppin some firewood as the blizzard sets in
Just a few of the things cowboys do

Low pay  is better than no pay at all
You take what you can here and there
Fixin torn leather and old worn out boots
The only thing free is the air

Nights in saloons with a fight here and there
Then back in the saddle again
Head throbbin hard and knuckles skint up
And the feller you fought was your friend

Spring floods and summer heat all take a toll
You wonder just how they live through it
But they tell you it’s something that they want to do
And you wonder just how they can do it

Them Cowboys
