I like hats
Don’s ask me why
I think it’s because they’re from days gone by

I’ve got plenty
I wear ‘em sometimes
Sometimes while I’m workin or makin up rhymes

Had a Fez
It was red with a tassle
If I wore it today I’d be in for a hassle

Some are tin
Made for soldiers in trenches
Come in handy in case the wife starts throwin wrenches

Some have earflaps
Couldn’t wear them before
Down South it’s just too freakin’ warm that’s for sure

I’m retired now
I can do what I want
Might put on a weird one and go for a jaunt

I take pictures
And put them on the net
People ask “Ain’t he run out of them dang hats yet?”

Had I skills
I’d sit down and I’d do one
But I can’t so I reckon I’ll go buy a new one

Got a mind
To get a sombrero
I could drive around town in my drop top Fiero

Wait a minute
I ain’t got one of those
Better close the dang window there’s a draft on my toes

That explains it
Cold’s affecting my head
Better get that wool watch cap from under the bed
