Michael Lee Steiner passed away on June 24, 2016.  He was born on October 21, 1941 in Clarksburg, WV.

He was raised in Huntington and graduated from Huntington High School in 1959 and later graduated from Marshall University in 1963. This was followed by graduation from West Virginia University Medical School in 1967. An internship was done at Los Angeles County/USC Medical School finishing in June of 1968. He entered the US Army in September 1968 serving until December of 1971. He had an honorable discharge as Major from the 25th Infantry Division and was brigade surgeon at time of discharge.

He finished an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia in 1975 and moved to North Carolina where he practiced ophthalmology until June 2016. His last residence was in Pinehurst, NC.

He is survived by his wife of Pinehurst, NC and his daughter of Augusta, GA.

He was a semi-professional photographer and a computer nerd. He also greatly enjoyed cowboy action shooting. He attained an extra class ham radio license, a real estate broker's license and a US Coast Guard captain's license in his spare time.

He started out as an Episcopalian but could be found in a Methodist or Presbyterian Church wherever the Lord could be found.

A memorial service will be held on the Outer Banks, NC in his memory of Michael.  He was a great guy and will surely be missed.
